Tip of the Month

September/October 2008

Something as simple as your posture is very important to your physical health and wellbeing. Good posture means a straight spine in a straight line from your neck to your "sit"
bones....those sharp, boney prominences under your buttocks.

Sitting with good posture means sitting forward on your "sit " bones w/ head, neck, shoulders and back all in a straight line. Bad posture, the slumping and slouching will have you sitting on your tailbone....your spine out of alignment.Slumping and slouching also can contribute to "kyphosis", a curvature of the upper spine( think of the hump common amongst folks w/ osteoporosis).So...relax,shoulders down away from your
ears. B R E A T H E....

July/August 2008

Whenever you feel a slump in energy or feel as if your energy just left you, drink lots of water. Whenever you feel tired, drink lots of water. Fatigue is a common symptom of dehydration....hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate especially after a massage...water is a natural cleanser enhancing our body's plumbing.

March/April 2008

TIP- Chronic stress, along with an unhealthy diet...AKA...unhealthy food choices, junk food, can add fat to your belly...we know this but the cause is a recent finding.Stress activates the hormone neuropeptide Y which leads to fat accumulation. Making healthy food choices and receiving massage therapy to help manage stress will help manage your weight.

January/February 2008

Anyone can benefit from massage therapy.

This month I am focusing on moms and other primary caregivers. Many folks who fall into these categories are juggling motherhood, other caregiving( an ill friend or family member),a job outside the home, family management and life(friendships, etc),They are often stretched to the max and exhausted.

Fatigue and feeling constant pressure are common. Resolve to take care and give care to the caregiver this new year using massage therapy....a welcome respite!
